About me: I am a young professional (32) that is able to work remotely, and am taking nursing school prerequisites while considering a career change. I spend my time hiking, mountain biking, going to the gym, and visiting breweries/coffee shops around town. I am from Monterey, but have spent significant time working and traveling abroad.
I have lived in this apartment the last 2 1/2 years, and have moved out for 7 weeks so the property manager can fully renovate the unit.
I am open to roommates of any gender as long they are clean, respectful of shared spaces, and conscientious about their noise. I prefer young professionals over the age of 27 that are committed to their growth and are looking for a fun, well located, and safe space to live. I am not a huge partier/drinker, and am looking for someone with a similar mindset. I am happy to connect you with former roommates for referrals. I will ask to FaceTime at minimum before making a decision. I am also happy to meet in person. I look forward to speaking with you!
Utilities (internet, water, heating): ADDITIONAL. If you are someone who runs the heat or air conditioning often, this may not be the place for you. The vaulted ceilings tend to jack up the cost of utilities when these are run. I recommend getting a space heater and good fan/individual AC unit. Monterey has a very favorable and temperate climate.
Property Manager: On-site. Mike is a fantastic property manager and mostly keeps to himself. Over the 2 1/2 years I have lived here, he has been nothing but helpful and takes great care of our complex.
Laundry: Unfortunately, this is not located in the apartment itself. We have a community laundry room. Machines are coin operated, but Mike ALWAYS has quarters.
The Community: There are 8 units in this complex. Every single tenant, except for myself, has lived here 4+ years. Everyone is friendly, respectful, helpful, and committed to keeping our community ecosystem healthy. My best friend and his wife live in the apartment across from me, and my former roommate and his fiance live in another on-site unit. I attribute the lack of turnover to great location, excellent property management, and everyone's commitment to living respectfully with one another.
*Please DO NOT apply if any of the following apply to you:
You listen to music, play video games, or watch TV at an excessive volume. Unfortunately, the vaulted ceilings carry noise throughout the house. I work from home, and study often...I do not care to hear music, bass, shooting video games, etc...reverberating through the house at any time of day. If you are not conscientious about the noise you create, this is a nonstarter.
You are not clean and considerate about how you use and share common spaces throughout the unit.
You communicate in a passive aggressive or aggressive manner. This is an open and friendly space. I am committed to strong and thoughtful communication that fosters a positive roommate ecosystem.
You party or drink excessively. Honestly, I am looking to live with other young professionals committed to their growth.
No couples
To sum this portion up: I'm hoping you are an adult in the way you cohabit space and communicate with others.
