Situated in a neighborhood of UCSB faculty, it is conveniently located next to the community pool, clubhouse, and mailboxes, surrounded by natural beauty with easy access to hiking trails, bluffs overlooking the beach, a butterfly grove, and major shopping attractions (Costco, Albertsons, Best Buy, Target, Home Depot, Ross, HomeGoods, Staples, etc.) as well as a movie theater and plenty of restaurants. The local farmers market takes place every Sunday in the same Marketplace Plaza!
The 2-car garage holds a well-equipped weight set and art studio on one side, so 1 spot for parking. It is equipped with a 240V charging outlet for electric vehicles.
The house itself is sunny and bright, LEED certified, energy efficient, and has only had 1 owner (us, who bought it in 2017). The soft water filtration system runs through the entire house and only needs to be reloaded with salt pellets once every 1.5 months.
The kitchen is fully equipped, with high ceilings and an open-concept island fit for a chef. All utensils, cooking supplies, sauces, and spices will be available for use. The fancy espresso machine, KitchenAid mixer, pressure cooker, etc. can be left out by request.
The living room doubles as a library shelved with classic and modern literary gems. There is no TV in the house, but we have a pull-down screen and projector for the home theater experience when connected to your electronic devices.
All 3 bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, with one Master bedroom that has its own private bathroom, walk-in closet, and balcony access. 3 of 4 bedrooms will be available for use (we will reserve 3rd floor for storage) for 7 months with some wiggle room on specific dates pending ample notice. The bedroom above the foyer has a wide corner view of the duck pond and walking trails, as well as UCSBs campus beyond the hills.
The stairs and second floor are carpeted, while the ground level is hardwood. There is a mini herb & tomato garden in the backyard with paved patio area, weatherproof tables and chairs and grill included. We have raised two little ones here, so toddler toys and equipment can be left out for use as well.
This house is perfect for families or couples looking for a relaxing getaway, surrounded by a neighborhood of UC Santa Barbara faculty members. The community is diverse, welcoming, and has plenty of outdoor space for quiet walks or jogs along the beach.
