The windows might be hand me downs from the old gymnasium or school next door and are a unique and special quality of the home. The space the windows look out on is owned by the town and is not developed. The view lends the feeling of living in the country while being only two blocks from historic Mill St., downtown Bayfield.
The ceilings are low in the kitchen and bedrooms. This makes it easy to reach up to turn off the smoke detector while cooking Sunday morning breakfast and when turkey drippings splash inside the retro gas oven over the holidays. It also persuades visitors standing somewhere around 6 feet tall to duck through the doorways and under light fixtures.
Both bathrooms come with some of the original retro bathroom finishes. The sink, bathtub, and toilet are lavender in the larger of the two small bathrooms, and the cutest sink there ever was in the half bath is sky blue.
