Basement bedroom available for rent near lake como- $600
Hello, I recently bought a home in St. Paul and am looking for a roommate. Roommate will have free range of their room (11'x 12') and walk in closet (5'x6'). The room has a radiator in it and backs up to the basement, so its pretty toasty in the winter. I don't have central air in the house. I do have a portable AC unit that you can use, but it may take some creativity to vent it out the bedroom window. There's a washer and dryer in the basement; I replaced the boiler and water heater last year. There is only one bathroom, though. Roommate will have access to the kitchen and bathroom on main level. I have a dog-- a 9 year old chow chow Golden retriever mix, so if you're not okay with dogs keep that in mind. I also have two Cockatiels that I keep upstairs. They sing in the morning and at night, which I think is adorable, but if you think that's annoying keep that in mind. No other pets please. The house was built in 1911 and has old house problems. I'll take care of maintenance and yard work most of the time, but may ask for some help with yard work (I work 2 jobs and sometimes can't.) I'm vegan so usually cook for myself, but if you want me to cook for you I'd be happy to as long as we split the grocery bill; I love to cook. I would rather have a vegan roommate, but if you're not vegan I'm okay with that. I'm not one of those weird preachy vegans. I'm 31 and am a special education teacher in Forest Lake so I leave fairly early in the morning and go to bed fairly early. I also work at REI weeknights and on the weekends and volunteer quite a bit. I enjoy running, rock climbing, woodworking, and reading and having shared activities would be great. I own two kayaks that you're more than welcome to use. I live .25 miles from lake como. I don't have cable but have a Youtube TV account that you can use. I don't much care if I have a male of female roommate, but absolutely no smoking in the house, no partying, and no loud music after 9:30. You're going to have to park on the street but there is plenty of street parking. Rent will be $600/ mo plus half of gas and electric. I will run a background and credit check on all applicants. I will require a damage deposit of 6400 before you move in. Looking for a 6 month lease but willing to negotiate.
