About the apartment
860 sq. ft. of space in the basement unit of a brand new construction duplex. Apartment boasts brand new appliances including a full sized washer/dryer, refrigerator, and electric stove range/oven. There is a spacious living room with a large closet and 2 bedrooms. The first room is great as a bedroom or a larger home office and has a closet. The second room functions perfectly as a smaller bedroom for you or an additional roommate or as home office/reading room and it has a closet of its own for extra storage. The unit sits on a hill on a corner lot, so the unit gets lots of natural light through the bedroom windows. There are a total of 2 windows in the unit, each in the bedrooms.
Accessibility
Tenants can access the apartment from its own private entrance out of our huge, grassy, shared backyard. There is a slight slope down in the backyard then it evens back up.
There are 10 steps downward to access the apartment and there is a small step leading into the shower.
Location, Outdoor Space, & Parking
- We are located right on the DC/MD line (off of Eastern Ave, between Bladensburg Rd and Rhode Island Ave) and we are a less than 10 minute walk to the following bus lines: T18, T14, 83, 86, H6, B2. Rhode Island Metro being the closest towards DC and the Hyattsville Metro going north.
- There is lots of street parking available on our block.
- The house is sitting on a quiet street that is situated two blocks from the heart of Mount Rainier, and only a 5 minute drive to Brookland, Downtown Hyattsville, and the DC Costco.
- Cool places close by: Penny Royal, Roaming Rooster, Dodah’s Kitchen, City Hall and Mt. Rainier Branch Library
Utilities & Amenities
Rent includes all utilities: super fast 1GB Verizon FiOs internet, electricity, heat/AC, water, and trash.
Amenities include central air, central heat, hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, updated kitchen, updated bathroom, in-unit washer/dryer, and a big backyard.
Pets
Pets are accepted, but no cats, as we both have terrible allergies.
About Us
We are a QWOC couple that bought a home right next to our QPOC besties! The four of us are all in our mid to late 30s and we just moved into a brand new duplex together, which means our houses only share a wall with each other. The house was built on a lot with two other duplexes that also share our backyard space. Collectively, we are a very community-oriented bunch and we believe that co-living encourages mutual dependence and resilience. That said, between the four of us, we are also made up of a mix of introverts and independent extroverts who will always value your space and privacy. We also have one dog in each house as of right now -- both are friendly rescues.
As for the two of us who will live above you, one of us manages a design team for the NY Times for work and the other is a recovering restaurant manager and bartender who now works in the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) field. We both work from home. Our hobbies include reading, traveling, and game nights. We're also 420 friendly.
Term, Deposit, etc.
Apartment available immediately. $2,000/month rent all-inclusive (internet, electricity, heat/AC, water, and trash). Term flexible but minimum 6 months. Security deposit is 1 month's rent (negotiable).
