Designed by prolific San Francisco architect H.C. Baumann and completed in 1924, 650 2nd Street is a historical landmark in San Francisco’s South End Historic District. Initially built for B.F. Goodrich as warehouse for rubber parts for the shipping industry, the building was then converted for Hiram Walker and Sons, who brought Canadian spirits down the Mississippi via the Panama Canal to San Francisco. The warehouse then later became the home of the George Lithograph Company. In 1996, with the ongoing redevelopment of San Francisco’s southern waterfront after the Loma Prieta earthquake, the warehouse, which features original mushroom capped concrete columns and large open floors, was redeveloped into 25 live/work units.
