This building is one of the gems in our portfolio. With premium fixtures, marble hallways and the classic feel of this iconic building it truly is Detroit's premier apartment building. In fact, it's much more than an apartment building. Aloft operates a boutique hotel on the first nine floors. This connection with the hotel give the private apartments an alive and luxury feel complete with the WXYZ Bar, a restaurant (not yet open), full marble and classic lobby with glass ceiling, and other hotel style amenities, optional pre-paid valet parking or self park. We have purchased, for our guests, the hospitality package which includes unlimited coffee at the Grab-n-Go, 24 hour access to fitness center, lobby wifi and computers, etc.

--Parking Note: Oversized vehicles will not fit in the Grand Circus garage. SUVs and vans do fit but the huge variety and trucks with racks on top will not fit. Your vehicle should be under 6 feet high. The hotel uses this lot for valet, so most vehicles do fit fine.

Following a two year, $93 million redevelopment, the David Whitney Building has been returned to its previous physical glory. The building has undergone a full historic renovation and its former office and retail space are being converted into a mixed-use development including an Aloft hotel, premium residences, meeting and banquet space, and high-end restaurant reflective of the building’s storied past.
The building’s original architectural elements have been revived from a full exterior renovation based on of D.H. Burnham’s original design to the restoration of the exquisite marble, terra cotta and gold-leafed atrium, once again making the David Whitney Building an iconic destination in Detroit.
The four story atrium is one of the signature elements of style that makes the David Whitney Building an American classic. The atrium was once one of the most visited retail destinations in the Midwestern United States.
Beautifully lit by a skylight and adorned with marble, terra cotta and gold leafing, visitors would come from around the region to shop at the Whitney Building and see the incredible architecture.
Note: The Aloft hotel has plans to expand. The building management could ask for any of our apartments backs, with notice, someday. Just is case we wanted to be transparent about the possibility.
