LOFT A at The Historic City Bottling Works Building in Old Town Portsmouth, VA
This beautiful and spacious (1650 square feet) New York Style luxury living loft has two large carpeted bedrooms with large closets and attached full bathrooms. The bathrooms have ceramic tile walls and floors with a tub/shower combo. The entry foyer leads into the great room that has wide plank oak flooring, two period style ceiling fans, exposed brick and massive wood beams with lots of windows facing north and west. Near the entry foyer there is an additional large closet. Adjacent to that is the laundry room which is equipped with a stacked washer/dryer.
The large open modern fully equipped kitchen has lots of counter and cabinet space and a large tile ceramic tile floor.
On the upper landing near the stairway there is an open space that can be used as an office or just another place to relax. Next to that is the mechanical room housing the water heater and allows for some additional storage space. The loft is efficiently cooled and heated with a fairly new central HVAC system.
The free parking at the rear of the building allows spaces for two vehicles for the loft plus there is always free parking in front of the building on High St. The secured front entry gate on High St. has controlled entry by a video/audio intercom system in the foyer of the loft. In 2017 the exterior courtyard stairs leading up to the loft were completely renovated and now feature thermostat controlled heat elements in the steps and the landing to prevent the accumulation of snow and ice. The building was built in 1901 (see historic marker) and totally renovated in 2004. It has been featured twice in the Home Section of The Virginian-Pilot newspaper.
LOCATION: Conveniently located between the downtown & midtown tunnels and the Jordan Bridge over the Elizabeth River connecting to Norfolk and the surrounding cities. It's only a short walk to the Portsmouth Naval Hospital and all the restaurants, bars, museums, marinas and other entertainment venues that Old Town has to offer. The ferry to Norfolk and Harbor Park, home of the Norfolk Tides AAA baseball team, is about a ten minute walk away.
If you are in the military, it's about a 5 minute drive to the Norfolk Navy Shipyard and a 10 minute drive to the Cedar Rd. Coast Guard Station.
