Normal Heights located minutes from North Park
Residents consider North Park to be one of the best hipster neighborhoods in the nation due to its cultural diversity, eclectic mix of restaurants, vibrant arts scene and central location. Normal Heights and North Park are minutes from downtown San Diego, Balboa Park, the world famous San Diego Zoo, 32nd street Naval Base, PetCo Park, Qualcom Stadium, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, and Ocean Beach. San Diego receives about 300 days of sunshine a year. Normal Heights is located on an elevated plateau and although there may be fog (June Gloom) on the beaches, North Park tends to be sunnier earlier in the mornings. The weather is gorgeous most of the year! For weekend outings, the mountains, the city of Julian (an official California Historical Landmark), Mexico and the Anza Borrego Desert are all great destinations. San Diego County also has some of the best hiking trails in the nation.
Restaurants and Night Life
Typically, Restaurants & Nightlife buzz with activity daily. Now with Covid-19, city of San Diego has allow restaurants to seat patrons out doors, curb side and many restaurants have set up beautiful street side accommodations and allows for ample spacing between guests. With San Diego weather, many outdoor seating areas have great ambience! North Park offers an amazing choice of restaurants from Fast Food to Ethiopian, Lebanese, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Italian, and of course Mexican and American restaurants, just to name a few. Nightlife options include many mini breweries, bars and nightclubs. Less than 5 minutes drive to the south is downtown San Diego and even more restaurants and clubs in the "Gas Lamp Quarter".
Transportation
Most shops and restaurants use to be centrally located on University Avenue and 30th Street but now are found through out North Park, South Park, University Heights, Normal Heights and Hillcrest. Walking remains one of the most popular transportation options in North Park. Bike lanes and routes on the main thoroughfares are increasing as the neighborhoods progressively accommodate bicyclists with bike lanes which makes bike riding a safer and popular way to get around. If you prefer public transit, there are many bus routes and it is easy to connect to the trolley lines as well. There are parking garages near 30th and University and fees range from $2 an hour to $5 for all evening. The neighborhood is very centrally located with several Interstate and state highways, including Interstates 805, 15, 8, and 5, and highways 163, 94, and 15 nearby.

While the costs of expenses like food and entertainment remain comparable, housing costs dip lower in Normal Heights. Here, a 1 bedroom, 1 bath room apartment costs about $1,495 a month, compared to the San Diego average of nearly $2,000 per month.
Parks and Beaches
The nearby areas boast Bird Park, North Park Community Park, and Morley Field. Morley Field has open grassy areas to play Frisbee, football, or just bask in the Sun.
