Welcome to Fort Tar Lofts, a boutique-style apartment community located on the borders of Ghent, where you can enjoy the finest city living experience! Our property is situated within the limits of the Norfolk Arts District and is housed in Virginia's oldest auto dealership, F.A. Roethke DeSoto, built in 1915. We take pride in preserving this historic structure, and you can see it in the industrial finishes found in each of our apartments. These features include original concrete flooring, exposed brick and masonry walls, 14-ft ceilings, and expansive windows that make our apartments unique. We offer on-site and secured parking for our residents' convenience.
Our convenient location is just a five-minute walk to the Chrysler Museum, Chrysler Hall, and The Harrison Opera House. Downtown Norfolk, with its exciting restaurants, superb nightlife, and premier shopping, is just half a mile away. Additionally, our property is located near The Tide, Norfolk's new light rail system, making it easy for our residents to travel throughout downtown Norfolk and into Virginia Beach.
We offer several amenities to enhance our residents' living experience, including a mailroom in the building, security cameras, access control, and a rooftop deck. Each unit also comes with a washer and dryer, eliminating the need for a shared laundry space.
