This a large 1,897 sq. Ft two-floor gorgeous mid-century modern home in the city and nested in an old growth urban pine forest all at the same time. Our home sits on a 8,276 sq. Ft. lot and feels like a peaceful and quiet retreat even though only minutes from everything a city has to offer. We’ve put a ton of love into our home and want to share the love. Its super cozy with warm, authentic and positive energy.

Your room is a large furnished light and airy 144 Sq. Ft. SW facing room on ground floor of

4 bd modern mid-century style house in Gateway area. Includes your own private bathroom right across the hall from your room.

Although east of the 205, it’s super quick easy access by car. We are less than 10 minutes from Montavilla and approximately 15 minutes from everywhere else including the Pearl District and Downtown.

House includes:

Main Living room on ground floor.

Big Kitchen with all needed modern appliances including dishwasher, large refrigerator, microwave, air fryer, rice cooker, and multi-functional oven. Youll get your own shelf in the fridge, freezer and kitchen for dry goods.

2 bathrooms (one for you, the other is our en-suite also on ground floor). Note: when guests visit, they also will use your bathroom most of the time as its the central bathroom in the house.

Washer/Dryer

Woodstove/Fireplace.

Central heating.

Additional living room in shared upstairs floor so everyone can have their own space to chill for those times you want to feel like your alone in a big house. Also incl. tons of additional storage if you need it .

Plenty of parking on our property.

Large well-maintained yard with garden, patio furniture, hammock, burn barrel for camp fires, and old forest growth, with tons of bird life.

1 mile from Gateway/NE 99th Ave Max Station

Plenty of local shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, groceries in close walking distance. Check out Lilys Thai Market, Food Fight Vegan Grocery, and Jet Black Coffee, all just a 2 min walk from our home.

We are:

Gay, friendly, fun loving professional male couple in their 40’s (Mental health Therapist and IT Manager).

Between the two of us, one of us is working from home most days of the week. We have converted the third and fourth bedrooms to our independent offices.

We have two adorable, super loving med. size labradoodles (2 and 3 yrs. Old).

We always keep a very clean and tidy home (i. e. we never leave dirty dishes over night. We vacuum almost daily, etc.)

We are Non-smokers.

We keep physically active through gym, hiking, running, cycling, etc.)

We are very outdoorsy and love camping A LOT for most of the year.

We both love to cook and make most of our meals at home. That being said, we enjoy dining out too. We are foodies.

We are environmentally conscious, so we compost and are conscious about conserving water and using energy responsibly.

We travel frequently so you’re likely to get the house to yourself a lot on weekends.

We also hope that for the few times we fly to get away a year, that our future housemate is comfortable and willing to let the dogs out and keep them fed twice a day. We always take our dogs camping with us.

We are generally quiet at home, meaning we don’t play loud music or throw loud parties. We do love to entertain and host dinner parties, and having friends stay with us when visiting Portland. We hope youll like to join in too when youre free and dont have other plans.

We are balanced in our social and home life. We play hard and rest hard. We like having occasional dinner parties

We make sure we got our 8 hours of sleep every night.

The room is $999 per/month which includes all utilities, and wifi. We rent with the intention of you staying 6 months to a year, or longer. However, the contract will include a 30 days move out applicable for both parties. We have a good sense of character, so are likely to pick the right housemate and well all get along wonderfully, but if for some reason things dont work out, we need the option to give you 30 days notice to move out.

$999 deposit.

Proof of employment, credit check and references are required.

We prefer:

Friendly, professional and generally quiet roommate. Someone who is social and hopes to make new friends with us. Of course we expect you to need time alone, have your own plans, etc., but weve had housemates who prefer to spend all their time in their room without really interacting with us and that felt like having a stranger in our home. Weve realized that does not interest us. We are about creating community.

Must be a non-smoker.

Must always be tidy and clean.
